A Snowstorm moved into Meagher County on Tuesday afternoon..... It was reported the storm left up to 4 feet of snow in the Little Belt Mountains. The storm caught many hunters by surprise. There were many hunting camps spread through out the mountains. Several stranded hunters were able to reach the Meagher County Sheriff's Office by cellphone. They, along with their vehicles were stranded in Spur Park, in the Little Belt Mountains. Meagher County Search and Rescue (MCSAR) was called out. 4 MCASR members drove snowmobiles to the stranded hunters. They were brought back to White Sulphur Springs where they made arrangements for a bull dozer to retrieve their vehicles. On Thursday the dozer operator told me he had been requested to retrieve 3 other vehicles in separate locations. When people are making plans to go hunting/camping in the mountains, they need to remember to check the weather and take appropriate precautions to deal with the changing weather. |
